The Story Behind Blake’s Makes: Crafting with Care and Purpose
Welcome to Blake’s Makes!
I’m a full-time care coordinator, a mother of three grown children, and a grandmother to three, with a full stepfamily. In the midst of a busy life, I started Blake’s Makes as my creative escape—a way to create something meaningful with my hands and give new life to everyday materials. What began as a personal passion soon became my mission: to craft eco-friendly, beautiful pieces using recycled and natural materials that my customers could feel good about bringing into their homes.
Inspired by Recycled Materials
Sustainability is woven into everything I create. My jewellery, for instance, is made from individually rolled beads of recycled paper. Each bead tells its own story as I take carefully selected paper scraps and turn them into one-of-a-kind creations. These beads carry the beauty of their past lives and are sealed for durability, resulting in jewellery that is both artful and sustainable.
My goal is to create pieces that don’t just look good but also feel good, knowing they’re made from repurposed, eco-conscious materials. By choosing recycled paper beads, I’m able to keep waste out of landfills and make something unique for you to enjoy.
Natural Products for Your Everyday
The same care goes into all of my products. Our scented salts are crafted with pure, natural salts infused with fragrance oils, allowing you to enjoy a rich scent experience without synthetic ingredients. Simply add the salts to your wax melt burner and let them release a warm, soothing aroma throughout your space. When the fragrance has finished, you can simply dispose of the cooled salts in your food recycling bin—clean, easy, and eco-friendly.
For both our car and home fresheners, I use high-quality, refillable glass bottles and natural, sustainable scents that are designed to last. These fresheners are made to be refilled and recycled, so you can enjoy their fragrance without the worry of excess waste.
Crafting for a Greener Future
Blake’s Makes was built on the idea that small changes matter, and I believe that every handmade, eco-friendly product is a step towards a better world. Every item comes in recycled or recyclable packaging, and I even offer a discount on refills if you bring back your packaging. For me, crafting is not just a way to create beauty, but a way to connect with the environment and encourage others to make thoughtful choices, too.
